Fairies

I have loved fairies since I was a very young child -
it seemed fitting to dedicate a page to them.

Fairy Believer

found by moonbeams,
hidden in sunlight;
light they are,
light as the air;
bright are they,
bright as the sky;
or dark as a storm,
strange as the night.
lovely, magical,
mystical, playful,
mischievous makers
of trouble
and schemes;
a dreamer's dream,
believers believe
it seems as it is,
it is as it seems.
fantasy is
reality,
believers believe,
and see.

I had a dream
I woke at night,
and walked a ways
in pale moonlight;
and there I saw,
beneath a tree,
the fairies
making fun at me!
I wondered why,
until I looked
and saw myself
there in the brook;
its still waters
a mirror made
and I could see
how I had changed.
Two large wings
came from my back;
my ears were pointed
as a cat's!
When I awoke
I ran to see -
but in my mirror
was only me.
But now I wonder,
was it a dream?
Or were the fairies having fun with me?

It is rare indeed
to see a fairy
of the male gender;
they seem to be
much more reclusive
than the girls are!
But we are seeing
more and more
of them,
thanks to faithful
fairy watchers,
who recapture
what they see
in their lovely artwork.
