Chrysocolla Jewelry Collection
The chrysocolla jewelry collection features an amazing stone that brings unique color to the mineral world, and this collection of jewelry pieces.
Chrysocolla is a beautiful blue-green stone that forms in the oxidation zones of copper-rich ore bodies.
Because of its similar color, it may be confused with turquoise at first glance.
However, it is really a very different type of stone.

Chrysocolla is usually classified as a mineral, although it is probably more appropriately a mineraloid than a true mineral - most of the time it is amorphous, meaning that it does not have a coherent crystalline structure, as minerals do. (*See below for a bit more info on mineraloids.)
Pure chrysocolla is actually soft and fragile. For this reason, it would not normally be well-suited for use in jewelry-making.
However, chrysocolla often is "agatized" in chalcedony quartz, and the quartz provides the stone with a luster and durability that is more suitable for jewelry purposes.
*About Mineraloids:
The members of this unofficial class are often mistaken for minerals and are sometimes classified as minerals, but lack the necessary crystalline structure to be truly classified as such. A few examples of mineraloids are: Amber, Jet [Very Compact Coal], Opal [Hydrated Silica], and Pearl [Organically Produced Carbonate].
I have really grown to love the chrysocolla stone, perhaps because it reminds me of those photos we've all seen of our Planet Earth that are taken from high above... what you see is just this beautiful blue and green planet, with drifts of white clouds wafting about it like a soft chiffon scarf.
I have such a love for the beauty of nature, and it seemed as if this stone was telling me I must use it as an opportunity to do something...something to help make a difference, and show that I truly appreciate the lovely work of my Father's heart and mind.
